Your Health Hong Kong, China, a high stress international city in Asia. Taking that well earned vacation is something we look forward to, but are you, your family or partner in good health?
If there is something bothering you make an appointment with your doctor in Hong Kong at least one month before you travel. Ask your doctors clinic to provide you with information about your travel destination, including vaccines and anti-malarial advice. Easily overlooked is the inclusion of a suitable medical kit in your travel baggage. Take into account the country or region you will visit and decide what your requirements are.
Holiday Medical Facilities When you check in at your hotel, guesthouse or resort ask about the medical facilities that are available in the area.
Check for the following: - Availability of a doctor
- The location of the nearest hospital
- Make a list useful telephone numbers in case of an emergency
Note: Persons who carry special medications should ask where these maybe obtained should you misplace your own supplies
Travel Vaccinations It is important that you check in advance to see if vaccinations are required for the country or region you intend to visit. The Centers for Disease control website is ideal for finding out more information about travel destination and possible health problems.

Hygiene Many countries in Asia are notorious for appalling hygiene standards. Common sense prevails, wash your hands before eating, avoid eating from roadside footstalls and drink only boiled or bottled water.
Safety A number of countries in Asia do not have any safety laws or legislation; if they do often they are not enforced. Watch for taxi or bus drivers who may have been drinking alcohol. Little protection can be offered by the relevant authorities, so take out travel insurance before you leave. Choose your transport options such as buses, trains, taxis and sea ferries carefully.
Be Prepared Don't spoil your vacation. Accidents are one of the most common causes of holiday disasters.
Feel safe and confident by attending one of our NSC USA First Aid & CPR training programs before your leave on your vacation.
